Momentum

WHAT is momentum?

Crosslink Community Church was planted in 2006 with one firm conviction: We wanted to link the community to the Cross of Jesus Christ.  We believe we exist to “Make disciples of Jesus Christ, who will make disciples of Jesus Christ.”  It is the power of multiplication.  What we have learned the past 11 years is that God adds to the church of Jesus Christ by multiplication.  The more we focus on “making disciples who make disciples”, the more we see people come into the kingdom of God.  Eleven years ago when 42 people began meeting in a conference room at Ebenezer Baptist Church we envisioned what we are experiencing today at Crosslink.  God started a ripple in the water back then, and over the years that ripple has grown into a wave.  Since moving into our new gathering place on April 2, 2017 we have been riding a wave of MOMENTUM.  The breath of God is blowing the wave, and we want to make sure we are on it, and obedient to Him.

God is calling us to something that is frankly beyond ourselves.  He is calling each and every person who calls Crosslink home to be on mission for God in Mebane and the Nations as we “move forward together” in MOMENTUM.

KEY GROWTH INITIATIVES

BUILDING CHRIST’S CHURCH

ONBOARD MORE LEADERS

  • RESOURCES FOR OUR LAY LEADERSHIP
  • CREATE BETTER SYSTEMS AND PROVIDE THE PERSONNEL TO OVERSEE IT
  • CLOSING OUR GENERATION GAP BY RESOURCING A FAMILY MINISTRY

As we look to catalyze a gospel movement in our city, it is mission critical to develop a discipleship pipeline from our children straight through to our adults.  In order to do this we must begin thinking, planning, and preparing to lay the groundwork for a Family Ministry.  With this move, we will be able to strengthen our commitment to family discipleship over the full spectrum of parenting.  We also believe this investment will help close the generational gap in our church, allowing for fruitful discipleship across all generations.

PREPARE FOR GROWTH

  • DEVELOP THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF OUR CAMPUS FOR THE COMMUNITY
  • LAUNCH GOSPEL CENTERED LIFE GROUPS IN EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD IN MEBANE
  • WE WANT TO BE AGGRESSIVE IN PAYING OFF THE CHURCH DEBT TO MAKE MORE RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR MINISTRY.

By God’s grace He has blessed us with 16 acres of land, that we were able to purchase with cash.  He has now blessed us with our new 17,000 sq/ft facility.  Since we moved in on April 2, 2017 we have experienced a 63% increase in attendance.  While we continue to see growth on Sundays, we are quickly maximizing all of our available parking and space in the facility.  We have already taken steps to cultivate more growth and alleviate bottlenecks by
launching another service.  This would give us three services to choose from and
help alleviate some of the congestion…at least for now.

DEVELOP PATHWAYS FOR MISSION

  • DEVELOP COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO HELP SUPPORT THE WORKING POOR
  • EXPAND OUR GLOBAL FOCUS STRATEGY IN OUR MISSION AREA
  • WORK WITH PASTORAL INTERNS EQUIPPING AND SUPPORTING CHURCH PLANTING

We are also working with Southeastern Seminary to develop a pipeline where we can utilize interns who feel called to plant churches.  It is our desire to bring them in, and help equip them to plant churches.  We believe God measures the strength of a church not by it’s seating capacity, but it’s sending capacity.  So we want to be intentional about raising up teams of people and sending them out to start churches in others places in our world.

HOW CAN YOU BE A PART OF Momentum?

Reaching our financial goal depends on each of us, moving forward together, making sacrificial gifts that are above and beyond our current level of giving. As we each determine what amount God would have us to give, it’s exciting to know that whatever we give is going directly towards building Crosslink for the good of Mebane and the glory of God!

Personally stretching ourselves in this area can be daunting and may even seem impossible at first. However, with prayer, creativity, and sacrifice, “stretch-giving” to Momentum is possible for everyone.

Use the following 4 P’s to help you make a good decision about committing to Momentum:

  1. PRAYER

    • Prayer starts it all. Nothing prepares our heart to respond to God like seeking His heart through prayer. Don’t rush it. The longer you pray “God show me how to give,” the more ways He can show you.

  2. PROPORTIONAL

    • Strive to respond in proportion to God’s blessing and provision. This will be different for each of us. And that’s okay! Paul says that gifts are “acceptable according to what a person has not according to what he does not have.” 2 Corinthians 8:12. All giving in the Bible was proportional because God has given us different amounts of resources. God is interested in our hearts, not just the amount that we give.

  3. PLEASING

    • Seek a commitment decision that is pleasing to God. For most of us, it is easy to find what is pleasing to us. But to find what is pleasing to God, our faith will likely need to be stretched through prayer and the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
    • HERE ARE A FEW QUESTIONS TO HELP DETERMINE IF A COMMITMENT AMOUNT IS PLEASING TO GOD:

      • Does this amount really require me to trust God? (2 Cor. 9:6-8)

      • Does this amount show I value my hope of eternal reward more than material things on earth?  (1 Timothy 6:19)

      • Does this amount represent a genuine sacrifice? (2 Samuel 24:24)

      • Does this amount express the level of thanksgiving I have for the ways Christ and His church have blessed my life and family (Psalms 54:6)

  4. PEACE

    • Look for and anticipate peace from God that passes all understanding after making a prayerful and proportional commitment that is pleasing to Him. This will be experienced in different ways – a confirming word or situation, a general sense of calm, sensing God’s perfect will.

TO DETERMINE YOUR
FINANCIAL COMMITMENT

1. Go through the “4 P’s” and ask God to place an amount on your heart to give.

  • Is my gift sacrificial?
  • Am I demonstrating faith in God’s promises and provision?
  • Am I joyous about giving this amount?

2. Assume for a few days you were to give the amount God has placed on your heart. Then ask yourself these questions:

  • You feel God has placed on your heart
  • You believe God will provide for you to give, and
  • You would like to give

If you can answer “yes” to all of these questions then you can feel comfortable about your gift amount. If you cannot honestly answer “yes” to all three questions, then run through steps 1-2 again until you are comfortable with your answers in step 3.

If you are married, you and your spouse should follow steps 1-3 separately then get together and share your gift amounts. If you arrive at different amounts, then repeat steps 1-3 together and come to an agreement on what you believe God wants you to give. Don’t rush it. Take your time and make sure you are both ready.

FAQS

  1. How long is my commitment?

We are asking that everyone make a two-year commitment. This commitment will begin with our first “Big Give” Weekend on Sunday, December 3, 2017 and it will conclude on Dec. 31, 2019.

  2. Are there additional ways beside cash that I can give to Momentum?

Yes. Pray about and consider creatively exploring ways you and your family might give during this season. As you begin to explore you may consider stored assets you own. You may also consider physical property or possessions you own. Gifts of appreciated property (e.g., stocks, real estate, mutual funds, jewelry, artwork, collectibles, etc.) might be an avenue for contributing generously with significant tax advantages. Please consult with a professional advisor for advice in your particular circumstance. If you would like to discuss the possibility of making a gift of property or stock, we would be honored to help! You may contact the church office, for questions about and instructions on how to do this.
